Short Notice – Discounted Hunts
We have a problem here at White Oak that seems to reoccur a few times a year. The older more mature animals do a lot of fighting for dominance, and I feel that the fact that we have advanced age classes they do not have the sustainable energy levels to fight the entire fall & winter months (as younger Bucks).

With Bulls (both Elk & Buffalo) and Bucks, we see a loss of condition by late November. The amount of supplemental feed in the field is increased, but some of the older Deer do not recuperate there lost weight and body condition before the bad weather and sub freezing temperatures arrive for winter. For a few, that will be the beginning of the end.
The above scenario is very similar for the Boars and Rams, the main difference is they don’t have a pre-determined rut; they just fight all the time. And although winter can be very hard on an animal that has been fighting, and even bigger problem can be with cuts and lacerations during the warm months.
My intent is to harvest these trophy animals before they will be lost anyway, just from nature taking it’s normal course. These types of hunts will be priced according to quality and species. They will be offered 1st come, 1st served and with out question will have very substantial savings.
In the past, the discounts have been anything from 25% to 60% off regular prices. We might have a $750 value Corsican Ram or a $6,500 value Elk or anything in between.
Clients that would be interested in being contacted should give us a call and let Sherri or myself know what type of animal they are interested in. You will be added to our contact list.
It is a plus if you have the flexibility to respond to an invitation to hunt within 1 or 2 days. Sometimes when an animal starts to decline, the other males sense it, and increase the pressure. So we usually must act immediately to be able to offer a quality hunt.

We are NOT offering hunts for sick or immobile animals. In my 20 years experience of raising and managing wild animals, I have gained the ability to quickly visually ascertain an animals condition. Depending on the time of year and current weather conditions, I will make my prediction if that animal will improve or decline. If decline is the prediction, then I would rather see a hunter harvest and appreciate that trophy, rather then letting “nature take it’s course” and the animal be wasted. With the challenges of trying to run a business such as this and “keep it in the black”, it’s better to try and recuperate some of my costs rather then take an entire loss. I think this is a good common sense approach to an unavoidable and predictable problem. |
